Good good links #183

Hi there!

Did the Easter weekend sneak up on you, too? I know I’m repeating myself here but I can.not.believe how far ahead into the year we’ve already progressed. Wasn’t Christmas just yesterday? Granted, the fact we still had our ‘tree’ up until after my birthday at the end of January might screw my memories here ;).

Anyway, in case your Easter egg hunt wasn’t successful or you – like me – don’t get to have on: here are some good links you don’t even have to search for. Though wasn’t the search almost as good if not better as eating the candy? <- digressing once again; state of my mind late at night so I’d better just wish you …

Happy reading and happy Easter Sunday!

Good good links

Good good [food for thought]

On Feeding Your Soul via Hummusapien

After multiple unsuccessful attempts at summing this up I’ll just highly recommend you read Alexis’ post. Inlcuding a pledge that we might all consider following.

Mental Health is Health, too via Avocado a Day Nutrition

Are the ‘healthy’ habits you’re engaging in actually healthy for you [mentally]?

Good good [advice and inspiration]

On Being Authentic And Sharing Our Lives With The World via The Blissful Mind

Something I struggle with, too, and think many introverts will be able to relate to.

Why we need to talk about menstruation and breastfeeding via well and good

No matter where you stand politically [you’ll know what I mean when you click over] I hope you’ll agree we need to take the stigma off these issues.

Happy Weight and Weight Loss via The Real Life RD

While weight loss isn’t my goal I’m sure it’s what keeps some people from trying IE so Robyn’s post might be reassuring.

7 Things You Need to Know Before You Begin Eating Intuitively via Healthy Hits the Spot

For some of us getting back in touch with our intuition can require a little extra guidance and these points are spot on.

Health Benefits of Reading via Verily Mag

Just in case you need a little more motivation to hit up the bookstore or library again.

4 Things You Can Do To Anti-Age Your Brain via Peaceful Dumpling

While I take posts like these with a grain of salt the tips mentioned here seem pretty sound.

The Hidden Side Effects of ‘Food as Medicine’ by Rachael (Avocado a Day) via Kara Lydon

Food can do a lot but not everything works the same way for everybody. Similar to Rachael’s post in the first category this is a good summary:In the end, trying to eat “perfectly” was causing me more anxiety than my anxiety.

Blogging

Why I’m over sponsored social media posts via Run, Lift, Yoga

We obviously need to distinguish between different kinds of sponsored posts but in general: so much yes to this! I recommend reading this article – as mentioned in the post – to get the full picture of how crazy things can get.

The Hidden (And Not-So-Hidden) Costs of Being a Blogger via Forever Amber

Especially for those people getting serious about it blogging by far isn’t an inexpensive little hobby anymore.

How I Grew My Instagram Following via Erin’s Inside Job

A great detailed post on the [time-intense] work involved in growing your account.

Instagram posts

This post.

The fact the modeling industry isn’t exactly body-positive and healthy is hardly surprising anymore. But this model’s account of her experiences is yet more proof change needs to happen. “Maybe I wasn’t made to be on the covers of magazines and shooting the biggest and best brands, but I was made for a reason”

Good good [food]

Polenta Cake [from “The New Vegan] via The Blue Bride

This sounds – and looks! – amazing in that it’s easy to prepare but offers an interesting combination of flavours [blood oranges, maple, almonds, pistachios, cashew frosting].

Vegan Chocolate Cream Eggs via It doesn’t taste like chicken

Cadbury has nothing on these colourful plantbased ‘eggs’.  Bonus: homemade means you can have them all year round!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Avocado Brownies (vegan) via The Almond Eater

No-bake and made from just a few good-for-you ingredients, including peanut butter – how much better could it get?!

Vegan Oil-Free Oat Bran Applesauce Muffins via The Conscientious Eater

Bran muffins hold a special place in my heart and these look plain amazing.

Vanilla Oatmeal Ice Cream via Feasting on Fruit

Dreamily creamy ice cream made from little more than oats, dates and coconut milk?! I’m super intrigued.

Vegan Zucchini Fudgy Brownies via The Vegan 8

A second but completely different brownie recipe in here because you can never have too many of those.

Curried Chickpea Dosas [vegan, gluten-free] via My little tablespoon

Hearty chickpea curry in homemade dosas – pure Indian-inspired comfort food.

Gigantes plaki via Lazy Cat Kitchen

Memories of a holiday in Greece come up right away plus legumes + tomato sauce always hit the spot for me.

Easy Homemade Vegetable Soup (gluten-free & vegan) via Southern In-Law

The weather might be getting warmer for most of us but who’d say no to a comforting soup like this any time of the year?

Happiness-inducing today: Going for a walk at just the right time to avoid getting caught in one of the many downpours we’ve been having.
